Product description

Use the SMEG Espresso Machine to brew coffee, espresso, or cappuccino at home. This machine features a Thermoblock heating system and 15 bar pressure for espresso extraction. Three separate stainless steel filter baskets allow you to make one or two cups of espresso at a time using freshly ground beans, pre-ground coffee, or espresso pods. Use the steam valve to froth milk or dispense hot water. Adjust the coffee temperature between low, medium, and high, and adjust the water hardness between soft, medium, and hard. The 1-liter water tank minimizes refills and has an optional water filter. The stainless steel removable drip tray has a floating red tab that pops up when the tray should be emptied. Hand wash or wipe clean all removable parts. SMEG is an Italian-based company focused on combining technology and style. Their internal design studio collaborates with internationally-renowned architects, and their products feature a retro 1950's look with high performance and modern function. Choose from a range of pastel colors to coordinate with other SMEG appliances.

Other Info from buyers:

  1.  The minute I took it out of the box I felt cheated. The whole exterior is made of plastic that looks and feels cheap. The detailing is bad, even the SMEG letters on top on the machine were blurred like they didn’t even give the chance for the painting/letters to dry. To top it all, the reflective plastic at the front of the machine was scuffed/damaged in our case. This is probably due to the way they do the packaging where they shove the coffee drippers (probably the only piece made of metal) with the rest of the machine without any padding or protection. Not worth 500 bucks by a long shot.
  2. This product by Smeg is not just about the great design. If you follow the programming instructions and grind espresso beans very, very finely (and tamp very firmly ... more than usual in grind and tamp), you'll get an amazing shot of espresso. The steamer works fantastic as well and with rapid heat time. This machine is superb - especially for the price!
